Chennai , Nov 2

TVS Motor Company has announced that it sold 85,463 motorcycles in October, up 14 per cent over the same month last year. "Due to production capacity constraints, the company was unable to supply more vehicles to augment further growth in two-wheeler sales," a release said.

The StaR brand sold over 50,000 units in October 2005. The newly launched StaR City witnessed good demand and the company is planning to increase its production to meet the demand.

The new Victor EDGE too has witnessed strong demand along with other offerings in motorcycles. These new product offerings are expected to enhance and strengthen TVS Motor Company's presence in the two-wheeler market in the coming months.

In October, the company also achieved its "highest ever" sales of all two-wheelers, selling 1,37,886 vehicles.

Scooter sales stood at 25,373 units compared to 21,291 units last year, recording growth of 19 per cent. The newly launched 90-cc TVS Scooty Pep+ has been well received in the regions where it has been launched, the release said. It will soon be available across the country, it added. Moped sales stood at 27,050 units compared to 21,722 units last year, recording a growth of 25 per cent.

It exported 6,016 units, up 63 per cent.
