CSI meet to focus on `ICT for development'

As a part of the CSI convention, the International Institute of Information Technology-Hyderabad would host an innovative contest for programmers.

THE Computer Society of India is hosting its 40th national convention in Hyderabad focussing on the theme ICT for national development.

The Event Chairman, Dr Ashok Agarwal, and the Advisory Chairman, Dr B.L. Deekshatulu, told Business Line that the event is being held at Hyderabad, where CSI was started in 1965.

The convention would have two-and-half days of technical programme where invitees would address areas of education, government, industry and technology. In addition, a CIO meet focussing on "Value Creation through ICT for end user organisations" and CTO meet to address issues dealing with "Rapidly changing technology and its impact on offshore development," have been lined up.

The four-day event to be held at Shilpakala Vedika here between November 9 and 11, will feature Mr F. C. Kohli of Tata Sons, Dr Raj Reddy of Carnegie Mellon University, Mr Jan Baan, Chairman of the Vanenberg Group and representatives from Government and industry.

Alongside this, the CSI convention would announce awards for eGovernance. The CSI Nihilent award would be given for various categories including one for Cauvery project of Karnataka, best policy framework and e-readiness award for Andhra Pradesh Government and another award for the Chandigarh for best eGovernance projects.

As a part of the CSI convention, the International Institute of Information Technology-Hyderabad would host an innovative contest for programmers.

The event is being co-sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Satyam Computer, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, State Bank of India, BI and a host of others. The event is being co-hosted in coordination with industry associations such as the Hyderabad Software Exporters Association.
