Rubber prices down marginally

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Nov. 4

SPOT rubber market suffered moderate losses on Friday. Though a leading manufacturer procured sheet rubber above Rs 59 a kg on Thursday, the absence of follow-up buying from the tyre sector kept the speculators vigilant exerting pressure on the prices.

According to sources, the prices declined without any visible selling pressure from dealers and growers. RSS 4 moved down to Rs 68 from Rs 69 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi.

NMCE November contract was quoted at Rs 68.50 (68.53), December Rs 65.17 (65.29), January Rs 65.25 (65.39) and February at Rs 65.29 (65.41) per kg for RSS 4.

MCX remained closed on Friday.

The December futures for RSS 3 closed at 187.8 yen against 187.9 yen at TOCOM.

The spot rubber rates per kg are as follows: RSS-4: 68 (69); RSS-5: 65 (66); ungraded: 62 (63.50); ISNR 20: 65 (65.50); and latex 60%: 45.50 (46).
