Kerala records normal rainfall

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State received normal rainfall during October, the first month of the ongoing northeast monsoon season, said the Thiruvananthapuram office of India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The total rainfall recorded during the period was 26 cm against the expected 29 cm, which is within the normal range. Wayanad district received excess rainfall of +47 per cent while Thrissur had a deficit of 37 per cent. Ernakulam, Kasaragod, Kollam, Palakkad and Pathanamthitta districts also received below normal rainfall.

In the remaining seven districts, rainfall received during the period has been either normal or excess, the IMD added. Indications are that the shortfall in total rainfall will be made up in the remaining two months of the season.
