Chennai , Nov. 4

`MANAGEMANTRA', an event aimed at spotting and showcasing young talent from management colleges in the southern region, kicked off here on Friday.

Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), around 400 students from 50 institutions and 22 business houses are participating in the event, according to a release.

At the inaugural session of the event, Ms Sabitha Rao, Chariperson, Managemantra, 2005 and Director, Cerebrus Consultants, said that the event is aimed at giving students visibility, and also to give them the opportunity to interact with the industry.

She said that the event would consist of a personality test and an aptitude test, followed by a point of view session, where at least a 100 participants would be able to give voice to their opinions, a business quiz, and finally a `who am I' session, a personal branding exercise.

She said that the second and last day of the seminar would consist of `team stream', where participants from individual colleges would make on-stage presentations of business plans that they have already constructed, which would be followed by panel discussions, where the students would receive inputs from the industry.

Mr R. Seshasayee, Vice-President, CII, and Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said that the management education system in the country is highly competitive, and is one of the few genres that match up to the international standards.
