Recognition for poultry farming

This is with reference to recognising poultry as a farm enterprise.

The suggestion made by Prof M. S. Swaminathan is welcome as this will generate continuous employment to rural people and cut down seasonal unemployment, in addition to making available balanced food to the farming community at cheaper rates.

If the Government recognises poultry as an agriculture enterprise by providing power and credit at cheaper rates, this will stop the migration of people to urban centres in search of employment.

Poultry farming will also help to generate employment in the transport sector, as well as in small business enterprises and cottage industries for supplying allied inputs that are required by poultry units.
