Harvest time

A. Roy Chowdhury

Farmers busy harvesting paddy in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Monday. Imbalance in rainfall has affected the kharif paddy crop in a number of districts in the State.

While some of the districts had untimely heavy rain, a few others saw less than normal rainfall. The State Department of Agriculture, however, feels that the overall impact would be minimal as the major paddy producing districts such as Bardhaman, Hoogly and Nadia had normal rainfall.
