FAQ specifications to be eased for MSP

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Union Government has agreed to extend relaxation of quality control (FAQ - fair average quality) in order to procure even discoloured maize with suitable changes in the minimum support price.

The decision would help the farmers of Andhra Pradesh whose crop had been damaged in the recent rains.

After receiving representations from the farmers, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had taken up the matter with the Union Minister for Agriculture, Mr Sharad Pawar, and appealed to him to relax the FAQ specifications.
