PSU HMT slips into red Our Bureau
BANGALORE: HMT Ltd, which made a modest recovery with a net profit of Rs 11 lakh during the second quarter of 2004, slipped into red reporting a net loss of Rs 7.38 crore for the second quarter this year. Its income declined to Rs 47.73 crore during the second quarter compared to Rs 58.3 crore in the corresponding period last year. The public sector, which has been awaiting restructuring package from the Government to shore up its business, had made a modest recovery during the second quarter of the fiscal 2003-04, when it recorded a net profit of Rs 11 lakh. The company had reported a net loss of Rs 1.56 crore during the first quarter of fiscal 2005. It had, however, made a slight increase in its income during the quarter to Rs 49.4 crore against Rs 41.4 crore for the corresponding period during 2003-04.
