Events WIEF to chant success mantra for India Our Bureau
Chennai , Nov. 9 THE Wharton India Economic Forum 2005, a student-run business conference, will be held on November 18 in Philadelphia. The theme of the conference is `India's Mantra for Success'. According to a press release from the Wharton School, the objective is to initiate a dialogue on what India can do to fully exploit its potential in economic and social development. Panel discussions at the forum will focus on strategies to promote cooperation between individuals, corporations and policymakers. The topics for discussion are: Investing in India; Fostering entrepreneurship; Shaping India's grassroots Is there a bottom of the pyramid?, and Made in India Creating a global brand. The panellists include Mr M. Damodaran, Chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India, Mr N. K. Singh, Member, Planning Commission, Mr Rana Kapoor, CEO, YES Bank, Mr Avnish Bajaj, CEO, Bazee.com, Mr Rangu Salgame, President, Cisco Systems, India & SAARC, Mr Purna Saggurti, MD, Head Multi-Industries, Investment Banking, Merrill Lynch and Ms Barkha Dutt, Senior Editor, NDTV. The keynote speakers are Mr Ahmass Fakahany, Vice-Chairman and CAO, Merrill Lynch, Mr Charles ("Chip") Kaye, Co-President, Warburg Pincus, Mr Deepak Parekh, Chairman, HDFC, and Mr Jairam Ramesh, Member of Parliament, Congress (I). They will address a broad range of topics including `India the road ahead; India-China, the partnership'; `Growth strategies in India and China' and `How to build a world-class organisation'. This year's forum will also have an exclusive roundtable discussion on Government Policy A Catalyst or Barrier. This is the tenth year of the conference, which was established in 1996.
