THE Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, today ruled out the resignation of the senior Congress leader, Mr Natwar Singh, from the Cabinet following the allegations in the Volcker Committee report.

Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of the P.N. Haksar Memorial lecture, the Prime Minister said that further action would be taken after completion of investigation. "Whatever action could have been taken has been taken," Dr Singh said, while referring to the setting up of the R.S. Pathak committee.

He assured that there would be a fair enquiry and the terms of reference and other details of the investigation committee would be made public shortly.

While maintaining that there has been no delay in taking action, Dr Singh said: "At the very first opportunity we had said that action in the matter will be taken."
