Bangalore , Nov 9

AT the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, summer placements have become a global affair.

This year (for the class of 2007), a total of 74 foreign offers were made on Day Zero compared to 41 offers last year. Students will get an opportunity to work with global investment banks and consulting biggies such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers, Boston Consulting Group, Temasek Holdings and Barings across international locations including London, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. The average stipend offered stands at $5,000 per month.

According to Prof Y.L.R. Moorthi, Placement Chairman, IIMB, "Wall Street's biggest names are making a beeline for IIMB students. This bodes well for the Indian education system in general and IIMB in particular."

In the past few years, IIMB has seen a sustained increase in the number of companies visiting campus on Day Zero of their placements, from eight last year to 18 this year. Out of the 74 foreign offers made on Day Zero, 57 have been accepted. The batch strength is 233 students.
