Improving exports

The robust growth of merchandise import in the first five months of the current fiscal is a welcome sign.

However, while nations such as Brazil, Russia and China have recorded high growth, India remains a trade deficit country. Hence, efforts must be directed at improving our exports. In this context, initiatives such as FTA deserve attention.
