E-Governance CSI to help take ICT to the common man Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Nov. 10 THE Computer Society of India (CSI), the country's leading agency of technology professionals, plans to network with other agencies and build applications to take IT to the common man. CSI President Mr Lalit Sawhney told Business Line that the society had experts drawn from diverse fields. "We have created a large pool of good electronic governance projects. It would be our endeavour to see that these projects are replicated in other parts of the country," said Mr Sawhney, who was here for the 40th annual convention of CSI. Some of the path-breaking projects had the potential for being replicated not only in the country but also in other parts of the world, he said. "eGovernance projects that facilitate better delivery of citizen services would make a difference with our involvement," he said. The CSI has interacted with Prof Subash Bhatnagar, an IIM alumni now advisor on eGovernance for the World Bank. Prof V. Rajaraman of IISc, Bangalore, who chaired today's plenary session, spoke about the challenges in designing an effective curriculum and education system to meet industry requirements.
