Mr Vikram Mehmi, CEO, Idea Cellular
New Delhi , Nov. 11 TO offer more flexibility to prepaid mobile phone users, Idea Cellular on Friday announced its new offering, SuperPower. The new card offers twice the validity period than that currently provided by most mobile service providers. It also offers 100 per cent of the price of the card as talk value, subject to Rs 5 deduction per day (towards processing fee) during the validity period (Rs 4 deduction for recharge coupon worth Rs 1,100 or more). The product would be available in the market from Saturday. Through this scheme, a recharge card worth Rs 330 would let a customer talk up to Rs 300 value (Rs 30 goes towards tax). The validity the customer can enjoy on this card is 60 days. But with the passage of each day in the validity period, there would be a reduction of Rs 5 in the talk value on this card. However, the company would waive off the Rs 5 charge on days the customer makes phone calls for more than 15 minutes. The company has a subscriber base of six million and operates in 11 telecom circles. It plans to expand to three more circles. "We plan to begin operations in East Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh circles by the middle of next year," said Mr Vikram Mehmi, Chief Executive Officer, Idea Cellular. The company operates in New Delhi, Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh-West and Kerala.
