More space for less words

A Roy Chowdhury

FACE-TO-FACE: Mr Noah Samara, Chairman and CEO of WorldSpace, who is in Kolkata to sign an MoU with Webel Mediatronics Ltd, came face to face with life on a pavement on Friday when he emerged from a press conference at Bengal Club on Russell Street.

As he came out of the venue and was walking for a photo-shoot, he saw a poor couple who made the pavement their home. Rocky had an injury in his right eye and was lying on the pavement while Asha, his wife, was out begging. Mr Noah saw them and tried his best to communicate with them. He enquired about the eye problem, and Rocky even showed him the doctor's prescription. He gave them some money. As he turned away, Rocky and Asha ran up to the car, perhaps to say "thank you", but found no words to express themselves.

There was only a silent exchange of looks - between the CEO of one of the world's leading satellite radio service providers and a pavement-dwelling couple.
