Events Engineering export council gears up for Hannover Fair Our Bureau
Kolkata , Nov. 12 THE Chairman of Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), Mr Rakesh Shah, said here on Thursday that "the world has recognised India as the future of engineering activities and Hannover Fair, by accepting India as the Partner Country for 2006, confirms our views." He was participating in a curtain-raiser programme for the Hannover Fair (April 24-28, 2006), an international technology event.The Indian Pavilion at the fair is likely to be inaugurated by the Indian Prime Minister and the Chancellor of Germany. After a gap of 21 years, it is a "collective global recognition of Indian manufacturing and India's growing economic significance in the world," he said. Mr Shah said there would be a separate 360-degree Indian pavilion of a 10,000-sq. m. space , said to be the largest by any partner country so far. This would enable Indian companies to showcase their technology, expertise and products. On EEPC's selection as the coordinating agency for the fair, Mr Shah said, "Germany is not new to us. The council has its office at Dusseldorf since 1984 and we have been regularly participating in the Hannover Messe, and the council has a long experience in successfully organising such trade shows overseas." Mr Wolfgang Pech, Managing Director of Hannover Messe, made a presentation on India's participation in the mega event.
