Chandigarh adjudged `Best e-Governed State'

Hyderabad , Nov. 12

CHANDIGARH has been adjudged the `Best e-Governed State' at the Computer Society of India and Nihilent e-Governance Awards for the year 2004 here on Saturday.

The former Chief of Army Staff and former Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, General (Retd) K. Krishna Rao, presented the awards here.

The best e-governance award recognised the Department of Information Technology of Chandigarh.

The State's e-Sampark project, a multi-purpose, single-window process, aims to bring together all the departments of the State under a single umbrella. Andhra Pradesh received the award for `Best Policy Framework and E-relations,' while Gujarat got the award for `Best Citizen Facilitation.'

Karnataka Valuation & E-Registration (KAVERI) was declared the overall winner for the `Best e-Governance Project,' while Madhya Pradesh's e-Krishi Vipanan obtained the overall runner-up award.
