Shanghai-type port for Bengal

AT the insistence of West Bengal Government, the Shipping Ministry has convened a meeting to discuss the scope of launching a Shanghai-type port in West Bengal.

The new port in Shanghai is now located in the middle of the sea about 30 km away from the mainland and connected to the mainland by a six-lane highway to facilitate transportation.

A high-level delegation, headed by West Bengal Industries Minister, has just concluded a visit to China including Shanghai.
