SBI staff observe `black day'

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Employees of the State Bank of India (Kerala Circle) observed a `black day' on Monday to protest what they described as the faulty implementation of core banking concept.

The undue haste with which the project was rolled out seems to have backfired on the management, which is now mouthing misleading information to blackmail employees, said Mr A. Jayakumar, Deputy General Secretary, State Bank Staff Union (SBSU), and Dr Antony Rudolph, Regional Secretary, State Bank of India Officers Association.

The unions demanded a thorough inquiry into the circumstances leading to the implementation of core banking in the circle. Activists wore black badges while on duty to register their protest.
