CII ties up with 4 EU textile bodies

New Delhi , Nov. 14

THE Confederation of Indian Industry has tied up with four European industry organisations in the textiles and apparel sector to boost exports to the European Union.

The European cooperation partners of the CII are the Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry, the British Apparel and Textile Confederation, the Union des Industries Textiles, France, and the Hungarian Apparel Manufacturers Association, a CII release said here. The chamber will also organise `SMATCHINDIATEX,' a fair-cum-interaction event for textile sector players from the EU and India in Mumbai from February 27 to March 1, 2006, and in New Delhi from March 2, the release said.

The event would be organised with a view to facilitating business co-operation between companies in the EU and Indian companies and also to increase mutual opportunities for trade and investment. The textile industry is one of the pillars of the EU economy and with the dismantling of quotas from January this year, India has emerged as a leading supplier of textiles to world markets, including the EU. CII is also looking towards future collaborations for Indian players with EU member countries and German companies in particular.
