UPES campus in Rajahmundry

Our Bureau

VISAKHAPATNAM: The first off-campus centre of the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, is to be set up in Rajahmundry and the State Government has cleared the project by giving a no-objection certificate.

According to Mr V. Aruna Kumar, Lok Sabha member from Rajahmundry, a team from the university will visit the town shortly to work out the project cost and other modalities. He said it was the first such centre to be set up in the country and it would be of great help to students, researchers and others in the field.

The Krishna-Godavari basin, with its substantial gas reserves, has been attracting several companies, both in the public and private sectors, and the setting up of the centre will give a boost to the exploration of hydro-carbons in the basin, he said.
