Letters Pension suggestions
For members covered under the Employees' Pension Scheme of 1971, who have rendered any number of eligible services and have not crossed 58 years of service, the EPFO issues a Scheme Certificate mentioning pensionable service and salary. Instead of issuing a Scheme Certificate and collecting the same from the members after they complete a minimum of 10 years eligible service and cross 50 years of age, the EPFO could directly issue pension on the employee completing 50 years. This will not only avoid duplication of work but also save the EPFO a lot of labour, time and money. The EPFO should also take maximum efforts to replace files/ledgers by floppies and CD writers and back them up as a safety measure to preserve the service details of earlier members. V.
