Rubber subdued on buyer resistance

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Nov. 17

STRONG buyer resistance kept spot rubber rates subdued on Thursday.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 declined to Rs 65 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 65.25 a kg on Wednesday.

Extremely favourable weather and the absence of major manufactures initiated the downtrend and the covering groups expect sheet rubber to touch around Rs 64 next week.

The only exception to the market trend was Latex 60 per cent which remained firm at Rs 44 a kg on short supply.

On NMCE, the December contract traded at Rs 63.70 (Rs 63.81), January at Rs 64 (Rs 63.96), February at Rs 64.60 (Rs 64.49) and March at Rs 65.02 (Rs 64.81) per kg for RSS 4. On MCX, December contract closed at Rs 64.20 (Rs 64.18) a kg.

Spot prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 65 (Rs 65.25); RSS-5: Rs 62.50 (Rs 63); ungraded: Rs 60 (Rs 60.50); ISNR-20: Rs 63 (Rs 63.25); and latex 60 per cent: Rs 44 (Rs 43).
