Global meet on audio-visual, acoustics, lighting

Chennai , Nov. 17

THEATRE owners are now waking up to the fact that they have to wean audiences away from the small screen and bring them back into the cinema halls. To achieve this, cinema halls have to be comfortable and fun, said Mr Sv. Rm. Ramanathan, General Secretary, Film Federation of India.

He was speaking at a press conference to announce the international convention and trade show on theatre, audio-visual, acoustics and lighting, TAAL 2005. This convention will be held at the Chennai Trade Centre between December 6 and 8.

He said that almost 50 per cent of the cinema halls are in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh but the theatre owners are unaware of the changes that are happening around them. A convention and trade show such as TAAL would create awareness, he said.

Mr T.N. Ravi Shankar, General Manager, Sandy Media (the organisers of TAAL 2005), said that this initiative aims at creating an effective platform between manufacturer/suppliers and the users.

According to a press release, the three-day trade show is likely to result in business of around Rs 100 crore.
