THE Andhra Pradesh Government has found a supporter in the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways with respect to the recent train accident in Nalgonda district that killed 116 people.

The panel, which visited the accident site on Thursday, has blamed the Railways and demanded that a judicial inquiry be ordered to ascertain the reasons for the major mishap.

Seven bogies of Repalle-Secunderabad, Delta Passenger were washed away at Valigonda village on October 29, killing 116 people. Mr Basudeb Acharya, Chairman of the Committee, and Mr P. Madhu, Rajya Sabha Member, alleged that the accident occurred as a result of severe shortage of manpower.
