`US citizens worried over outsourcing to India'

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Nov 18

US citizens are becoming increasingly concerned about business processes being outsourced to countries like India, according to the visiting US Senator, Mr John Edwards.

He was talking to Indian Parliamentarians at an interactive session organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham).

Mr Edwards said, "The unemployment scenario creates complications and people in US are opposing the trend of business process outsourcing" and indicated that employment creation should be the top priority of any administration and the US was particularly concerned about the loss of jobs of its citizens.

The senator sought cooperation between India and the US in areas of mutual economic interest, particularly nuclear energy.

Mr Sachin Pilot, Member of Parliament, in his observation said that the US should not forge relations with India keeping Pakistan in mind and a new era of relationships should be developed between the two largest democracies of the world.
