Petronet chief project officer

KOCHI: Dr Jacob Thomas, former Chairman of the Cochin Port Trust, has taken over as the Chief Project Officer of Petronet LNG Ltd. He will hold the exclusive charge of the development of the proposed Kochi Terminal of Petronet, which also has a project at Dahej.

The Rs 2,200-crore LNG project is coming up on 40 hectares offered by the port at Puthuvypeen. Dr Thomas said that the project is in the take-off stage and would be completed in a time-bound manner. The process for selection of engineering, procurement and construction contractor is on and the construction is expected to begin by April next year.

As Port Chairman, Dr Thomas had played a key role in bagging the LNG project.
