Kerala chamber team in UAE to boost trade ties

Abu Dhabi , Nov. 21

A VISITING delegation from Kerala's Chamber of Commerce and Industry arrived here to discuss with the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industries ways to boost economic relations between the two countries.

Abdullah Rashid Al Kharji, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industries, urged Indian industrial and commercial entities to make use of the various opportunities and facilities provided by the UAE, according to a report in the official Emirates News Agency, WAM.

"India's participation in new commercial and industrial projects in the UAE will enable both countries accomplish joint projects through our co-operation," he said.

He pointed out that the volume of non-oil trade exchange between UAE and India exceeded Dh 11 billion last year and that trade exchange rates between both countries climbed by 62 per cent in 2004 compared with 2003.

The volume of UAE exports to India touched Dh 5.4 billion, up 115 per cent compared to Dh 2 billion in 2003.
