Public Sector Banks Canara Bank opens 23rd branch in Mangalore Our Bureau
Mangalore , Nov. 21 IT was a befitting tribute to the founder of Canara Bank, late Ammembal Subbarao Pai, in Mangalore on Monday. The bank opened a branch in the campus of Canara Group of Educational Institutions another venture founded by late Subbarao Pai. The Chairman and Managing Director of Canara Bank, Mr M.B.N. Rao, inaugurated the centenary branch - 23rd in Mangalore city - in the campus of the Canara College (one of the constituents of Canara Group of Educational Institutions) at M.G. Road on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rao said that the founder of the bank always envisaged the welfare of the poor, and the bank is committed to his ideals. The centenary branch will go down in the history of the bank as an important milestone. He said that the bank would interlink 1,050 branches under core banking. Inaugurating the 9th ATM in Mangalore on the occasion, Mr B. Narayan Shenoy, President of Canara High School Association, lauded the services rendered by Canara Bank. He also recalled the association of the founder with Canara Bank and Canara Group of Educational Institutions. Mr R.K. Madhukar, General Manager of Canara Bank, was present on the occasion.
