HMT posts Rs 7.4-cr loss in second-quarter

HMT Ltd, which made a modest recovery with a net profit of Rs 11 lakh during the second quarter of 2004, slipped into red reporting a net loss of Rs 7.38 crore for Q2 2005. Its income itself saw a dip to Rs 47.73 crore during the period as compared to Rs 58.3 crore in Q2 2004.

The public sector, which has been awaiting restructuring package form the Government to shore up its business, had made a modest recovery during the second quarter of the fiscal 2003-04 when it recorded a net profit of Rs 11 lakh.

It had reported a net loss of Rs 1.56 crore during the first quarter of fiscal 2005. It had, however, made a slight increase in its income during the quarter to Rs 49.4 crore as against Rs 41.4 crore for the corresponding period during 2003-04.
