A 20-MEMBER UK environment delegation is on a mission to explore the potential of partnering with Indian companies in emission trading and greenhouse gas reduction projects.
The UK Trade Mission has been organised by the United Kingdom Climate Change Projects Office and this is its third trade mission to India.
The delegation will participate in a seminar on Project Development Technology and Finance for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in India and explore potential of providing technical and financial support. Mr Gareth Hughes, from Climate Change Capital, who will be on the mission, in a statement, said: "We are seeing increasing deal flow from India and the mission will serve to strengthen our ties with key institutions." A recent World Bank assessment of the world carbon market reported that UK private companies were now the third largest investors in climate change projects. It is estimated that about 1 billion euros will be available in the UK for CDM investment and India is one of the leading potential markets for these investments.
