Child labour

Often one hears reports of voluntary organisations aiding the rescue of child labourers. Recently the Labour Department, the Delhi police and `Pratham', an NGO, rescued about 500 children from illegal zari units in Delhi. Rescuing children is a lot easier than rehabilitating them. Unless proper systems are created to take care of the children (and also their parents), the rescue will have little positive effect. But as someone said, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". Unless poverty is removed, child labour will continue.
