New Delhi , Nov. 22

CONSUMERS having Reliance mobile connection can now book their domestic flight tickets through their phones. Indian Airlines and Reliance Infocomm have come together to allow Reliance IndiaMobile users to make booking on the state-owned airline through their phones.

Emphasising that the entire booking process is hassle-free, a company spokesman said that once the passengers key in (in their phones) the names of the cities between which they would like to travel and the date of travel, full and discounted fares in economy and executive classes would be displayed on the mobile screen. "The passenger has to only select the fare and payment mode and book the ticket," the official said.

Initially, the booking will be available for full fare and easy fare options being offered by IA.

The ticket can be collected from the airport or an IA office by producing the PNR and a photo identification card.

The IA booking facility is currently a subscription service and is bundled with over 65 frequently used R World applications.

This facility is accessible after buying a monthly pass of Rs 25 or a day pass for Rs 3.

Reliance IndiaMobile users, however, need not register separately for the service but could use the existing RIM bill payment PIN for this facility.

Addressing a press conference to announce the tie-up, the Chief Executive Officer, Delhi Circle, Reliance Infocomm, Mr Navneet Saluja, said that though the agreement was not an exclusive one, "currently we are going ahead only with IA."

The Commercial Director, IA, Mr Anil Goyal, said the airline had made no separate allocation in its booking system for the tie-up. Asked whether IA will also offer tickets on the international flights being operated by it, Mr Goyal said this was something that could be looked at a later date.
