Bangalore , Nov. 22

ENTERPRISE content management (ECM) solutions provider, Interwoven Inc, announced the opening of its new research and development (R&D) centre in Bangalore on Tuesday.

The company expects to double its headcount of 70 in Bangalore over the next 12 months.

The Bangalore centre will serve as an R&D hub for product development, product feature development and enhancement, quality assurance and 24-hour technical support for Interwoven's customers worldwide.

Addressing a press conference, Mr James Murray, Vice-President for Interwoven's Asia-Pacific Operations, said 30-40 per cent of the company's global engineering team would be based in Bangalore for 12-18 months, but jobs would not be cut in the US.

Quoting analysts' forecast, Mr Murray said a 15-20 per cent compounded annual growth rate was expected in the global ECM market, making it a fast growing segment in software.

In such a context, India represented a vast market opportunity to capitalise on, Mr Murray said.

Mr Narsing Rao, Head of Interwoven Software Services India Pvt. Ltd, said the Bangalore centre had 15-20 per cent of its global technical staff and saw a 300-per cent growth in the last one year. It has 70 employees.
