Meet on micro-finance in Kochi

KOCHI: The Kochi-based Institute of Small Enterprises and Development is organising a two-day international convention to scrutiny micro-finance boom here on November 29 and 30.

The convention plans to evolve strategies, both at the policy and action levels. It will also critically review success stories in several countries and their contribution relating to enterprise development.

Besides participation from several international organisation, the convention will have the active participation of the RBI, Ministry of Small Scale Industries, Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Planning Commission. While the Finance Ministry is thinking of a regulatory framework for the micro-finance system and the RBI has already come out with a comprehensive report, the convention is expected to be a curtain raiser on the effect of micro-finance on the real economies of developing countries.
