Disinvestment debate

This is with reference to the article, "The divestment debate: China's example" (Business Line, November 21): China is a fast growing economy with an average growth rate of 9.5 per cent against India's 5.7 per cent. Their per capita income is $1,000 against our $530.

If disinvestment of well-run companies is going to benefit the rich, it will only widen the existing economic divide between them and the poor.

In China, the divide is narrowing and the disinvestment policies are likely to pay rich economic dividends..
