Mumbai , Nov. 23

ROYAL Palms Estates and Park Plaza Hotels have entered into a tie-up to launch a five-star deluxe, 223-room hotel at Goregaon in Mumbai.

The hotel, named Park Plaza Royal Palms, is the first hotel of the Park Plaza Chain in Mumbai.

The agreement was signed by Mr Amir Nensey, Chairman, Royal Palms Estates, and Mr Anil Madhok, Managing Director, Sarovar Park Plaza Hotels.

"We built a world-class five-star hotel and then started scouting for an internationally acclaimed partner. We are proud that ours will be the first venture in Mumbai for the Carlson Group under the Park Plaza banner," a press release said quoting Mr Dilawar Nensey, Joint Managing Director, Royal Palms.

According to him, the hospitality sector, especially the hotel sector, is set to reap the fruits of tourism and the business boom.

"Today, there is a scarcity of hotel rooms by 7,800, and the open skies policy will bring another 3.5 lakh tourists to Mumbai in 2005. On a conservative basis, the gap between availability and demand shall go up to 12,000 rooms by 2006," Mr Nensey was quoted as saying. Park Plaza Hotels is a part of Carlson Hospitality Worldwide.
