Words of caution

This is with reference to the article `WTO ministerial: Tough bargaining lies ahead' (Business Line, November 18): The WTO views food like any other industrial commodity, subject to global market forces and covered by the same sort of trade rules any other commodity, for example iron ore, machinery or automobiles.

But food like water, is not an product/commodity that consumers may choose not to purchase. Food is the basis of life. So, the words of caution in the article should awaken bureaucrats to the plight of farmers before signing on the dotted line, agreeing to all conditions set by the US.
