BANGALORE: Yarn and garment maker Gangotri Textiles, which markets trousers under the Tibre brand, plans to launch branded shirts and men's accessories and open company-owned stores next year.

A company official told Business Line that Gangotri plans to open a chain of retail stores next year. Gangotri expects revenues to jump to around Rs 100 crore from Rs 25 crore for its Tibre range because of this expansion. "We will launch complete wardrobes for men, which includes shirts and accessories such as belts, socks and wallet," he said.

He said the Tibre brand of trousers has grown nearly 60 per cent during the first half of the current financial year. During the last few years, the brand has grown around 40 per cent every year, he said. The company plans to increase its garment production capacity from 1,000 pieces a day to 4,000 pieces a day by next October. The official said the Tibre brand, which was sold mostly in the South, is now being expanded to several other parts of the country. Its sales in the West had shown robust growth, he said.

The Coimbatore-based Gangotri Textiles has a turnover of around Rs 180 crore. It has earmarked an outlay of around Rs 350 crore for its expansion-cum-forward integration project.
