A better Bihar

This refers to the article `Bihar: The road ahead' (Business Line, November 24), which rightly points out that Lalu's brand of socialism never worked during the last 15 years.

It is a pity that Bihar was neglected to an extent that often destroyed the past glory of this wonderful Eastern abode of intellectuals such as Buddha.

As a tourism promoter for the past 10 years, I was shocked to see that Bihar never featured on the tourist's map and no steps were taken by the State Tourism Ministry to promote Bihar as a rich traveller's destination.

One also wonders why a State endowed with nature's bounty did not bear witness to economic progress during the years of Lalu's rule. It is tragic that while the rest of the country was making strides in various fields such as IT, Bihar had only poverty and corruption to distinguish it.

I hope that the article's hope that both rural and urban Bihar will henceforth steal the show under the State's new leader will come true.
