Announcements ONGC refinery begins supply of new high-speed diesel Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Nov 27 THE first consignment of high flash - high speed diesel (HF HSD) was flagged off from the Tatipaka mini refinery of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation today. Mr A.A. Khan, Asset Manager, ONGC Rajahmundry, after flagging off the consignment also inaugurated the newly installed "back pressure reduction scheme", according to an ONGC press release from Rajahmundry. HF HSD's are needed for offshore operations and this is for the first time it is being made available from ONGC's base. HF HSD has the minimum flash point of 650 C. The event marks yet another step forward for ONGC Rajahmundry Asset by making it self sufficient in the supply of HF HSD to its offshore rigs operating in east coast, in addition to its existing supply to onshore rigs. ONGC requires approximately 1,80,000 KL of HF HSD annually to meet the total offshore requirements both west and east coast. Out of which about 1,50,000 KL is used at Mumbai offshore. This has been arranged from MRPL, Mangalore. With the commencement of HF HSD product from Tatipaka, the east coast requirement except Paradeep is also met from ONGC's internal resources. After this initiative at Tatipaka, ONGC has achieved 95 per cent of total requirement of HF HSD either by internal resources or from the ONGC subsidiary MRPL. By installing high-pressure separator at GCS-II, Tatipaka, back pressure in the main pipeline is reduced which will in turn maximise gas production from existing wells. Presently Tatipaka GCS-II is supplying 14,00,000 M3/ day of gas at 40 kg/ CM2 and 70,000 M3/day of gas at 20kg/ CM2 to GAIL. With this scheme total gas/oil production from island area will be improved by reducing the back pressure in the medium pressure trunk line, the release added.
