More Japanese investments sought in infrastructure

New Delhi , Nov. 30

A JAPANESE business delegation led by the Nippon Keidanren Chairman, Mr Hiroshi Okuda, called on the Union Minister for Finance, Mr P. Chidambaram, and discussed issues including the infrastructure bottlenecks hindering Japanese investment in the country.

Mr Chidambaram told the delegation that India expected more investments from Japanese companies to promote infrastructure development, officials accompanying Mr Okuda said. Japanese investments were lower in India compared to China, the Minister said, and also pointed out that the Indo-Japanese trade was not growing. Mr Okuda is also slated to meet the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh.
