Rubber improves on narrow arrivals

SPOT rubber prices improved on Wednesday. Covering groups turned active once again, procuring the narrow arrivals, as moderate showers were reported to be disturbing the tapping process in major plantation areas.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 65.25 and Rs 65.50 a kg respectively in Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 65.00 on fresh buying and short covering.

The rubber futures turned better in the National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India (NMCE), guided by domestic weather though the overseas indices were bearish. The December contract was traded at Rs 65.74 ( 65.58), January contract at Rs 66.75 (66.32) , February contract at Rs 67.35 ( 67.28) and March contract at Rs 68.00 ( 67.80) per kg for RSS 4.The December futures for the same grade weakened to Rs 65.11 ( 65.22) a kg on MCX.

The December futures for RSS 3 declined to 190.8 yen from 193 Yen at TOCOM. Physical rubber prices a kg were: — RSS-4: 65.25 (65.00), RSS-5: 63.00 (62.75), ungraded: 61.00 (60.50), ISNR 20: 63.25 (63.25), and latex 60%: 44 (43.50)
