THE Leela Palaces and Resorts has entered into an agreement with the Kumarakom Lake Resort to formalise a partnership that `promises a distinctive experience alliance' offering a range of benefits to travel planners and consumers.

Capt C.P. Krishnan Nair, Chairman, The Leela Palaces and Resorts, and Mr Paul John, Chairmanof the Kumarakom Lake Resort, signed the agreement in London, a spokesperson for The Leela Kovalam Beach Resort at Kovalam near here, said on Wednesday.

Located on the banks of the serene Vembanad Lake, the Kumarakom Lake Resort is a luxury heritage resort and a privileged member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The resort houses over 50 traditionally styled villas and an ayurvedic spa.

The partnership is designed to provide guests with a blend of the famed backwaters experience with the Leela brand of service quality, the spokesperson added. It will allow both companies to cross-market their properties, offering customers and travel planners a larger portfolio to choose from.

"By creating the partnership, we will better serve our customers by offering a wider range of destination options," said Mr Peter Leitgeb, President, The Leela Palaces and Resorts.

According to Mr Vivek Nair, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, it was important for The Leela Palaces and Resorts to choose a comparable partner to complement its distinct portfolio. "We look forward to working together to leverage a number of tactical sales and marketing initiatives, sure to lead to increased sales and exposure of all our properties."
