Events Vizag getting ready for Kalam's visit Our Bureau
Visakhapatnam , Nov. 30 THE roads in Visakhapatnam will be improved thanks to the forthcoming visit of the President, Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, to participate in the Naval Fleet Review. The State Chief Secretary, Mr T.K. Dewan, who came here on Tuesday along with the Director General of Police, Mr Swaranjit Sen, reviewed the progress of various development works and security arrangements being made in view of the President's visit and expressed satisfaction at the progress of the works. At the venue of the Fleet Review at R.K. Beach, Mr Dewan discussed with officials about security and other aspects. The District Collector, Mr Praveen Prakash, the Police Commissioner, Mr V.S.K. Kaumudi, the Joint Collector, Mr Sandeep Kumar Sultania, and the Municipal Commissioner, Mr N. Srikanth, briefed him about the steps being taken to ensure smooth conduct of the programme. Later, the Chief Secretary visited the site where Satyam is setting up an IT centre and spoke to the project leaders about the progress of the work. He said later that the State Government had allocated Rs 50 crore for widening and renovation of roads and other development works in the city in view of the President's scheduled visit in February.
