People Vandrevala to head Motorola India Our Bureau

New Delhi , Nov 30 MOTOROLA Inc on Wednesday named Mr Firdose A. Vandrevala as the head of its India operations. Mr Vandrevala was earlier the Chairman of Tata Teleservices and has spent 33 years with the Tata Group in different capacities in the steel, power and telecom sectors. Speaking on Mr Vandrewala's appointment, the Motorola Regional President, Asia-Pacific, Mr Simon Leung, said "Motorola places high importance on the India market as part of its global strategy. Vandrevala's abilities, coupled with Motorola's technological leadership, are expected to help the company realise its growth objectives for India, which include next-generation technologies." Mr Vandrevala will also be responsible for enhancing Motorola's ability to support integrated solutions for customers. The announcement is a part of Motorola's renewed focus on the Indian market. Last August, Motorola's worldwide CEO, Mr Ed Zander, visited India and announced a series of initiatives to help drive the company's growth in India, including the possibility of setting up a manufacturing unit in the country.
