Gangotri plans Rs 100-cr investment

CHENNAI: A sum of Rs 100 crore is to be invested this fiscal to increase production of Tibre trousers and on sales and marketing of the product, according to Mr Sunil Keskar, Regional Marketing Manager, Gangotri Apparels, a division of Gangotri Textiles, Coimbatore.

During the fiscal, the Rs 280-crore company also plans to increase the plant capacity to produce 3,000 pieces a day of Tibre trousers from 800 pieces, he told newspersons.

The company launched Feather Touch and Matrix variants with a special Super crease treatment, which makes the trouser keep its crease permanently. Feather Touch is available in five colours and is priced at Rs 1,095. Tibre Matrix is available in five different styles and consists of four colours each. The price ranges from Rs 945 to Rs 1,295, he said.

According to Mr Keskar, the Indian market for readymade trousers is Rs 9,320 crore and Tibre could have 1 per cent share of it.
