Cooperative banks

This is with reference to the article `Nabard's new rules: A case of fence eating crop' (Business Line, November 30).

With co-operative banks, in general, it is, in many cases, unfortunately such a case of "the fence eating the crop".

The very custodians often eat away the bank funds by granting loans to themselves and family members.

Most of the banks can come out of the crisis if the government machinery refrains from interfering with recovery proceedings and stops sheltering defaulters.
