Kotra meet showcases wider collection of fabric samples

AMONG the 14 Korean textile machinery manufacturers represented in the first-ever face-to-face meet organised here on Thursday by the Korea Trade Centre (Kotra) were R C Korea Co manufacturing roll packing machinery and Seobu Machinery Co Ltd, producers of high speed jet loom dobby.
A good many of them were the textile accessories and spares manufacturers who were seeking tie-ups for distribution/dealership in India.
As part of the buyer-seller meet, a sample fabric show was also held in which diverse non-cotton fabric collections from 42 Korean fabric suppliers were kept on display, besides garment accessories and embellishments.
The Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency represented through its overseas arm, Kotra, had sponsored the meet held in association with the Government's of India's Textiles Committee which is the textile cluster development agency in the country.
Last year, Kotra and the Textiles Committee had held an exclusive video conferencing here with Korea's textile fabric producers to facilitate India's garment industry's fabric outsourcing.
According to Mr S. Periasamy, Deputy Director, Textiles Committee, Tirupur, the Kotra's buyer-seller meet was chalked up as the region's textile industry including the Tirupur knitted garment industry has evinced greater interest on the choice of new machinery.
